President Barack Obama reaffirmed his commitment to New Orleans and the Gulf region, telling an audience of more than 1,500 yesterday that the area’s recovery remains a priority.

Several Fleur de Lis Ambassadors were in the crowd at the town hall meeting. University of New Orleans Chancellor Tim Ryan hosted the event on UNO's campus.  New Orleans City Council President Arnie Fielkow, Xavier University President Norman Francis and Scott Cowen, President of Tulane University, were also among those attending.

CowenCowen was among a small group of people who met with the president just prior to the event. He shares his thoughts on the meeting and the president’s visit in this video.
